OKFAHC Healthcare Affordability & Access Policymaker of the Year Awards
Healthcare legislation can have significant consequences on escalating insurance premiums, out-of-pocket expenses, access to care, and the affordability of employer-sponsored coverage. And quite simply, for too many Oklahomans, healthcare remains out of reach.
Since its inception in 2019, Oklahoma Families for Affordable Healthcare (OKFAHC) has been advocating for sound healthcare policies that reduce the cost of care, becoming a valuable voice for Oklahoma families and business owners who believe that the cost of healthcare is out-of-control. Issues we focus on include:
-
preventing healthcare premium hikes
-
lowering prescription drug prices
-
limiting costly unfunded mandates
-
protecting affordable dental care, and
-
requiring transparency in billing.
On the heels of the 2026 Oklahoma legislative session, we want to recognize state legislators who have contributed to OKFAHC’s core affordability priorities by taking decisive action on policies that can impact healthcare costs for consumers. We also commend policymakers who take the time to evaluate the broader consequences of healthcare legislation, understanding that changes affecting one part of the healthcare system can create unintended costs and access challenges for patients, employers, taxpayers, and other stakeholders. Their voices are a step in the right direction.
That’s why we created OKFAHC’s first ever Healthcare Affordability and Access Awards.
By recognizing legislative leadership and engagement, OKFAHC seeks to promote informed policymaking and ensure healthcare affordability and access remain a central consideration in policy decisions affecting Oklahoma consumers.
