OUR MISSION

Oklahoma Families for Affordable Healthcare provides an independent, non-partisan voice for families and businesses around issues impacting the cost of healthcare. We advocate for policies that reduce costs and save lives by increasing access to affordable healthcare in Oklahoma.

  • In 2019, Oklahoma Families for Affordable Healthcare (OKFAHC) was created to advocate for sound healthcare policies that reduce the cost of care.  Since its inception, OKFAHC has become the much-needed voice for Oklahoma families and business who believe that the cost of healthcare is out-of-control.

  • Over 100,000 Oklahomans have signed up to be a part of the OKFAHC coalition and use our platform to contact their lawmakers. OKFAHC is supported by private individual advocates and business partners.

  • We closely monitor healthcare policy trends and work with lawmakers, regulators, and communities to explain how legislation affects cost and access to care. We also advocate for measures that build a fairer health system for all Oklahomans.

  • We build coalitions of organizations that work on behalf of Oklahomans’ health, including the Oklahoma Primary Care Association, INTEGRIS Health, the Oklahoma Academy of Family Physicians, and the Oklahoma Association of Health Plans. We will continue to build partnerships that benefit Oklahomans’ health.

MEET JULIE McKONE

OKFAHC EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Julie McKone is the Executive Director of Oklahoma Families for Affordable Healthcare (“OKFAHC”), which was created in 2019 to advocate for sound health care policies. The mission of OKFAHC is to promote policies that reduce the cost of health care, protect the budgets of both families and businesses, and ultimately save lives by increasing access to affordable healthcare to all in Oklahoma.

An educator for over two decades, Julie’s passion has always been advocating for children and families.  Her fight for affordable healthcare began after seeing the impact of rising healthcare costs on her fellow teachers, her students, and her own family.

Julie’s husband Chris is a military veteran who has been serving for over 20 years as a pilot in the US Navy. Together they have two daughters. Julie and her family enjoy spending time together, traveling and watching college football.
