“No” to Free Standing Emergency Rooms

OKFAHC and our advocates helped defeat a measure that would have propped up expensive, deceptive business practices that are failing patients in Texas.

HB 1398 failed to advance in the Senate Retirement and Insurance Committee.  This measure would have supercharged the creation of many so-called “free-standing Emergency Rooms” in Oklahoma. These facilities are infamous for surprise-billing and price gouging, and the legislation would have watered down protections for patients.

Thank you to Senators Brooks, Coleman, Dugger, Garvin, Prieto and Woods for opposing the measure.
